Dear Las Vegas Community:
The Las Vegas Railroad Society was founded with all local children in mind!
We are dedicated to create Las Vegas' finest educational 'Fieldtrip Destinations' in history!

Foundations & private donors who collaborate with the Las Vegas Railroad Society's diligent efforts, enable us to provide 'one day soon' year-round hands-on education for over 300,000 students of our local schools and a better quality of life for all local special-needs children!

"Together we CAN, and we WILL place 'Sin City' Las Vegas also on the map
as a caring children-oriented town, at last!"

Thank you for supporting our tireless efforts for all the right reasons!

VRRS Advisory Board member Lee Beil allocated unique railroad museum gift donations for Las Vegas' official railroad museum. With humble gratitude the Las Vegas Railroad Society took possession of the entire railroad offered by Tropicana Express Resort in Laughlin, NV.

Pictures below demonstrate diligent LVRRS volunteer effort, as also 100% corporate volunteer support of Tropicana Express staff and many other local companies who all helped with smiling faces to re-locate the entire railroad from Laughlin, NV to Las Vegas, NV.

CORPORATE PRO-BONO COMMUNITY SUPPORTERS

VISION SIGN INC.: LVRRS' Advisory Board member Billy Blackwell, owner of Bilmar Landscape negotiated with Vision Sign Inc. to team up 'pro bono' with Tropicana Express Resort and with Pan Western Trucking, to help the Las Vegas Railroad Society Museum with loading the donated rolling stock onto 6 truck beds with their cranes.

     - Vision Sign Inc. was delighted to help and agreed to offer 100% pro bono support.
     - The Vision Sign employee/crane operators teamed up with their boss and decided
to also donate their time to the LVRRS' unique educational cause without getting paid!
     - You can see their pictures below!

PAN WESTERN CORP.: LVRRS' Founding Chairman negotiated with Pan Western Corporation to consider teaming up with our major donor 'Tropicana Express Resort', to help to re-locate the entire railroad donation pro bono with their trucks from Laughlin NV, to Las Vegas, NV.

     - Moe Truman, CEO of Pan Western immediately embraced the LVRRS just within
a couple of hours after receiving the charity's proposal, and 100% pro bono support
was instantly provided from Pan Western Corporation
to relocate donated goods.
     - It was a dream come true!

SUNBELT RENTALS was also approached about the 3-day weekend effort in Laughlin, and immediately jumped on the band wagon and provided 75% pro bono support.

After trial and error of trying to find pro bono support all throughout Las vegas, an excellent corporate donation team was now established, ready and prepared to make history happen and undoubtedly, each company succeeded in their own way and established their legendary partnership with the LVRRS.....

- Day One -

PREPARING SIX 40 FOOT TRACK PANELS FOR LOADING....
Taking turn, it was labor of love for LVRRS board members and volunteers - Very hard work,
when they removed Thursday & Friday railroad spikes and track connector plates
in preparation to align one side of rails of six 40' track pannels so that
they could be loaded onto the flatbed trailers..

FANTASTIC TEAMWORK

Spike_Hammer.jpg

Once the six 40' rails were aligned, railroad spikes needed to be secured once again, and that was the more difficult job yet, hats off to all, but especially to yesteryear's Chinese laborers.

Below: This was the Plymouth diesel's last important work performance on the Tropicana Express railroad, before the engine is being retired and loaded onto the truck.

As planned and arranged by the LVRRS' President, Bruno Platzer; with help of the diesel engine the 6 rails were moved in place with a chain for easy crane pickup for loading.....

   TropDiesels_LastJob.jpg

Above: Tropicana Express staff Ron Cramblit points to the railroad engineer inside the diesel locomotive:
"Good job, Roger, now gently pull the front rail forward!" What a great team!

- Day Two -

"JOB WELL DONE GENTLEMEN:"

thank_you_rolodex_md_wht.gif

Another day, working on the railroad. All six 40' track pannels needed to be separated and exposed for Saturday's crane pick up. So, our very special and year-round dedicated volunteer crew removed 240 feet of gravel from all the track pannels to be ready when all trucks are rolling in early next morning. There, they made it! Such dedication to the Las Vegas Railroad Society Museum's educational cause is truly to be admired!

Was everyone sore? "YES INDEED!" But with a sense of great accomplishment, and driven toward loyalty to our educational charity's mission - vision - goals, which is absolutely priceless.  We also received staff volunteer help from Tropicana Express, thank you to all!

THE UNFORGETTABLE HISTORICAL

'CONVOY TO TOMORROW'

We the Las Vegas Railroad Society are looking forward
to embrace the Laughlin community one day soon,
right here, in Las Vegas Nevada, inside the new 'Railroad Heritage Park'

We are honored to be the recipient of the Tropicana Express railroad!
We respect Tropicana Express Resort management for
keeping the entire railroad in Southern Nevada,
since it could have easily ended up somewhere across the country, but it did not.

A MEMORABLE MOMENT!

Let's stop for just a moment and let's celebrate Tropicana employees, with........

A SALUTE TO
WAYNE CRAMBLIT & SON RON CRAMBLIT:

The casino management called for Wayne Cramblit, to join his son Ron Cramblit to line up for photography, even though they did not really seem to seek such attention at all.

Wayne Cramblit and his son's memory of labor intensive work are imbedded into the aura of this little railroad, since they were both involved with the construction of all railroad tracks at the Tropicana X Resort.

Everyone stopped for a moment, and emotionally 'saluted' the father and son for their memorable efforts. A significant happy and an emotional sad moment, all at the same time, for everyone watching this.

ALSO, A BIG SALUTE TO BILL BEAMAN
Railroad Engineer (21 yrs) At Former Ramada Express!

Bill__TrudySm.jpg
Bill Beaman and Trudy Platzer Interview (May 15, 2012)

Mr. Beaman, railroad engineer at the former Ramada Express Hotel & Casino (current Tropicana Express) in Laughlin, reached out to Trudy Platzer, LVRRS Founding Chairman, and invited her to conduct an interview. - Mr. Beaman provided a world of information!

Both of them also visited the future 'Railroad Heritage Park' property and all additional accessible properties reserved for small scale train rides. Mr. Beaman expressed great admiration and enthusiasm for the entire LVRRS museum project and the LVRRS Founder's perseverance. Here are a couple of pictures with Mr. Beaman and number 7, and number 11 during the 'Ramada Express' days.........

Let's stop for just a moment and also celebrate another Tropicana railroad employee........

MR. ROGER CASTILLO

.......pictured standing on the left, Mr. Roger was another Tropicana Express Railroad Engineer/Maintenance personnel for the last 7 to 8 years at Tropicana Express Resort. He has put his heart and soul into that little railroad, polishing and maintaining the diesel and steam locomotives and railroad cars, and keeping them running smoothly at the Laughlin property.

Trains can touch people hearts in more ways than one. Trains no matter what model or size are very, very special, just ask the smiling passengers, excited children, or nostalgic railroad engineers and railroad hobbyists around the nation, and around the world........

TropSteamerEngineerMaintenance.jpg

More pictures and stories in the works of former Tropicana Railroad' employees.
Many emotions and memories are attached to this narrow gauge railroad 'that could'........
Slowly but surely we will have all the existing stories included with additional pictures.
